16世紀-18世紀
1606年 – オランダの探検家ウィレム・ヤンスゾーンがオーストラリアの北部海岸を初めて確認。
1642年 – オランダの探検家アベル・タスマンがタスマニアを発見。
18世紀
1770年 – イギリスの探検家ジェームズ・クックがオーストラリア東海岸に上陸し、ボタニー湾を発見。
19世紀
1788年 – 初のイギリス植民地がシドニーに設立される（ファースト・フリート）。
1829年 – 西オーストラリアがイギリスの植民地となる。
1851年 – ゴールドラッシュが始まり、ビクトリア州で金鉱が発見される。
1901年 – オーストラリアが連邦として独立（オーストラリア連邦成立）。
20世紀
1914年-1918年 – 第一次世界大戦にオーストラリアが参戦。
1939年-1945年 – 第二次世界大戦にオーストラリアが参戦。1967年 – 国民投票により、先住民アボリジニの市民権が認められる。

2008年 – ケビン・ラッド首相がアボリジニに対する公式謝罪を行う。
